There is a lot of support here for students who would like support for their academic work. And so we offer things like general education, tutoring. So all of the sciences and maths and all those courses you'll take to prepare for your degrees. We also have tutoring that's targeted toward nursing. So those of you that are interested in a nursing program, we have tutoring support for that. And then we have a writing center, which is dedicated to helping students with all kinds of communication skills, but particularly writing. So if you're doing any writing in any of your classes, we have a whole group of trained individuals who are here to support you.
Our students, once they are in a program with us, they're actually assigned a faculty advisor. And that faculty advisor meets with them regularly to make sure that they're on track with their degree program and their courses. But also to mentor them, we find time and time again that students develop such a strong relationship with their faculty that will last, you know, just years in their career as well. And our faculty does an amazing job of supporting our students through their journey.
Something I love about our faith orientation as a university is that we have this mission to extend the healing values of Christ and one of those healing values is to build community and that extends also to the way that you think about learning. You're not learning alone, you're learning in a community with other people. And so I love walking around campus and seeing students and study groups together kind of working through material with each other. Once you get into a program, you will move in a cohort. You are each other's family, you are each other's community and team. And so that's a huge part of your learning experience here is to learn how to be in community with other people as students, future healthcare professionals and scholars.
